French-Norwegian bassist Cécile-Laure Kouassi performs across Europe and the US. Recent chamber music appearances at Yellow Barn, Konzerthaus Berlin, Salle Cortot, Bergen International Festival, Stavanger Kammermusikkfestival.
Her debut recording ‘Beaux Jours’ is available on all platforms.
Cécile-Laure Kouassi is assistant principal in Oslo-Filharmonien since 2016. She has played as guest principal with Les Dissonances, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and co-principal with the Royal Danish Opera, in addition to freelance work in Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre Philharmonic de Radio France and as assistant principal in Orchestre National de France and Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. She has taught at several courses: Voksenåsen, OKA Summerkurs, Ringerike Sommersymfoni and through the Norwegian Kontrabassklubb.
She trained at Juilliard, where she received the Scholastic Distinction for her paper on Poulenc and Surrealism, and holds a master’s from Rice. Interested in the mind-body connection and injury prevention, she pursues further studies at UCLouvain, Faculty of Medicine through their PEPS Program for artists.
Cécile-Laure Kouassi plays a 1770 Ongaro double bass, on generous loan from the Dextra Foundation and featured in the September 2015 issue of The Strad, a modern instrument by Seth Kimmel and a bow by Boris Fritsch.
